Critical Mind

My very first game, and the only one that I have actually completed so far. You play as a character named Dr. Enoon, and your objective is basically to get to the end of every room. The game runs in 30 FPS, which makes it kind of tedious to play today I’d say (Combo-Rhime!). I tried to mixture with some light effects aswell, which makes it very hard and annoying to play at times. The story of the game was never really completed, so don’t even try to understand it. There’s also a lot of typos, mainly since I was quite a bit younger when I made it. It’s done in Game Maker, a game creation software by Mark Overmars.

I was aiming for a thick atmosphere, with the cold rooms that could be drenched in blood. The lack of music was also to enhance the atmosphere of the game, with the background heartbeats as the only setting sound. A bit into the game there’s a little twist aswell, which might have enhanced the overall experience (or completely ruined it). Anyway, you should try it if you like poor games with a kind of lunatic feel to it. It should also be mentioned that I was working on a remake of the game, running at 60 FPS and with very enhanced animations and graphics, but it got scrapped since I lost the files in a computer crash. I might try to redo it someday.
