In an attempt to generate gamers’ interest in Infinity Ward’s forthcoming game ‘Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2′, Microsoft and Activision unveiled an exclusive global Xbox 360 console for the game, thereby marking the “the biggest entertainment launch of all time.”
Announcing the new $400 package at the Activision press event for the promotion of the game, scheduled for November 10 worldwide release, Microsoft elaborated that the bundle would comprise a black Modern Warfare 2-themed console; two wireless controllers; a 250GB hard drive; and a copy of the much-awaited game.
Referring to the inclusion of Infinity Ward’s latest title in the Xbox 360 games’ spectrum, Xbox senior marketing director Albert Penello said that Microsoft had been working with Call of Duty, and anticipated it to be one of the biggest games of the year.
Calling the Xbox 360 tie-up for the game a “cool” move, Penello added that Microsoft had done something similar in the past too, with Halo!
Commenting on the move, Adam Pollington, Xbox 360 Category Manager for Australia and New Zealand, said: “It’s thrilling to bring the exclusive Modern Warfare 2- inspired Xbox 360 console to Call of Duty fans. Being able to work so closely with the talented team at Infinity Ward on the design has enabled us to develop a console that will set bragging rights around the world. These fans deserve the biggest Xbox 360 console ever.”
