Recycling Digital Cameras Online For the Highest Cash Payments

Recycling Digital Cameras Online For the Highest Cash Payments
By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Stephen_Brian_Roper]Stephen Brian Roper

Mobile recycling sites have been around for many years now and are used by millions of people in the UK looking to dispose of old handsets correctly whilst earning some extra money at the same time. As there are now so many of these sites most have realised that other electronic products such as digital cameras also have a similar value and contain the same precious materials. All types of digital cameras are accepted from the world’s leading brands including Kodak, Casio, Sony, Nikon, Canon and lots more.

It’s easy to get started, simply visit a mobile recycling site and see if they pay cash or vouchers for other electronic devices including digital cameras. If they do simply search for the model that you want to sell and you will be offered a price. If you are happy to proceed based on the price you are offered then register with the site and you will be provided with an envelope in which you can return your old device in. Once the recycling site receives your old electronic device it will be checked over and you will receive either cash or shopping vouchers within a short amount of time.

Even if your old camera is broken or faulty there’s no need to get it repaired as it will still be accepted at many mobile recycling sites and you will be offered up to 80% of the original price. Some mobile recycling companies will pay you in cash only and other offer shopping vouchers as an alternative. By accepting shopping vouchers in payment for your unwanted camera you will get up to 15% more.

By recycling old digital cameras online not only can you earn some extra cash in your pocket but you can also help the growing electronic waste problem. Cameras contain many hazardous materials which when thrown in the bin and end up at landfill, these materials will leach into the soil causing problems to the environment. Every year up to 1.2 million tonnes of e-waste including digital cameras and other electronic devices end up at landfill which is becoming a major concern.

It’s essential that everyone does their bit for the environment by recycling old digital camera and other electronic devices correctly. Its great to recycle via a recycling website as not only will you be helping the planet on which we all live but also getting some extra money at the same time.

There are many mobile recycling sites in the UK where you can [http://www.recyclingforcash.co.uk/recycle-digital-camera]recycle digital cameras for cash payments. To find full reviews of all the UK’s leading mobile recycling sites visit [http://www.selloldmobilephone.co.uk]Sell Old Mobile Phone.

Infographic: The tangential learning principle

These are two infographics I’m using in a presentation in a few days to Principals. The first represents the disruptive element (social) that has appeared in socially-connected learning. It’s the part which often is potentially a crack in the wall and may lead to tangential learning, or a crack that fuels intellectual and network lock-down as we struggle to answer questions based in fear, uncertainty and denial.

My presentation is not about that conflict, but to attempt to illustrate why students will spend as much time in online games and virtual spaces as the will in the K12 classroom, during the school career. The choice is pretty simple; either we choose to allow social-interplay into classrooms, and develop curricula founded on solid experiential learning principals, or isolate students from the potentially cataclysmic web.

Informally, our children are already exploring and trying to make sense of the world outside the window. At the same time, politicians are gearing up for further high stakes testing, standardised learning, back to basics (3Rs) and filtering – not just school (but everyone’s content).

Our children, in their school career will experience 10,000 hours of this, learning about a set of rules and future predictions that are not true anymore and ignore the tangential experiences afforded by web, game and mobile. The infographic below describes (as best it can) how I see the theories of Connectivism (Downes & Siemens) playing out in my childrens use of technology – daily.

I’ve invited my 9 year old along to demonstrate how this infographic relates to his use of MMOs – which I think is a model which can be applied equally to how I want him to learn at school (and out of it).

I have been at pains not to use edu0techno-babble, jargon, or to name specific technologies — as this further complicates the message.

What I am trying to demonstrate in the session is the way in which ’social’ impacts school (like it or not) and to help those attending try to make sense of what they (and you) see as core, important and worthwhile – so that they can begin to formulate their own view and local community manifesto.

This infographic is very much the way I see the design of learning, though the principals and strategies embedded are far more complex.

It is how I learn, how I see my children learning – and how I am trying when possible to help other teachers develop their own classrooms in professional development.

If you have time, I’d welcome your feedback – to see if this infographic can be applied to your own learning – Does it work for your interests, even though yours may be tangential to mine?

Game under the water

A bloody whole month waiting for this game and is has been suspended. It suddenly happened that the pitch is flooded, it’s been raining from a while and looks like the pitch is not prepared for rain. Now what! When will it continue? Tuesday? Blimy. I needed this game at least to spend 2 hours by!

However, I have my comments on this. Both teams came like shit to the game, and when this happens a minor victory or a draw on extra time is considered an excuse to save the tournament, when actually it is just an excuse to say “hey, we don’t suck that much, we won the game, or we scored on extra time”. Loads of bollocks, Boca is playing so badly lately that I am not expecting a great match from here.

We will see how it continues …

My First Sims 3 House!

…Not really my first, but it is my first serious attempt at a nice house, and I think I did well… I added the house to Modthesims.info and seems to be getting some good feedback! It’s really cool that some people like my creations and want to use them. That house that I built was for the “Close-knit” family of mine and they were just absolutely annoying, they’d need every little thing in their aspirations and couldn’t live the simple life anymore. I got the dude from my house to get off his bum and get into the Politics career path and buy the house he wants.

Then after a lot of job satisfaction and friend-making and feeding off a cheap fridge, I moved the family into this baby! At first it wasn’t the best of houses – I mean, in the same gallery you get to compare both houses and the finished product looks a lot better than the previous one in my opinion.

I learnt a lot from building this house, and it was nice. I finally know how to use the Camera man tool (Just hit TAB!) and I can finally build a decent house in the Sims 3! *proudness*

Download the house here.

Friday's Updates Are Here Today!

Hey guys this is Jimbercane posting. Before you read any further, I would like to apologize for posting these updates a bit late. I was banned from going on the computer yesterday, and therefore there was no possible way that I could post the updates yet even look for them. Anyways, the title of this post basically should say that there are some updates, so lets get cracking! First off all, there is a new contest going on and it’s name is the Ladida Contest. If you wish to participate in it, it’s great! The winners of this contest will be able to sing in there own virtual concert! Next, Ginormous Ridonkulous is back with 2 new cazmo guest stars: Themick777 and Sacred!

Next, I was at the Town Square today, and I noticed that there was a new NPC there! This NPC will give you great deals on some of the coolest item on Planet Cazmo! It is said to check back every Wednesday.

Next, there are some new Hot Deals. To purchase them, first click on the Newspaper Icon on your Chatbar or your Mini-Chatbar. (Your Mini-Chatbar is visible right when you log on to Planet Cazmo.) After doing so, click on the section on the left called Hot Deals. Now you should be able to view all of the new Hot Deals. Hover over what you like, and click on it to buy it.

Next, there is a new Mod Gift, and it’s name is Blue Samurai.

Finally, today is the last day that Jason Castro will be performing in Planet Cazmo. He will start at 12 in the afternoon and play until 12 midnight. He will play once every hour. If I were you, I would go and watch him perform because of that Jason Castro Concert Ticket! Post-apocalyptic online games

Well, the title says it all. Here’s some links to free online post-apocalyptic games. The games might not have great quality, but hey, it’s free.

Apocalypse Online is a free MMORPG (Massively Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game) that, according to the site, takes place on a future Earth that has been ravaged by war. Society itself has been obliterated leaving only a few losely banded organizations attempting to protect themselves from the anarchy that threatens their day to day lives.

Dragon Age: Awakening Rilis

Saya sendiri masih sedikit samar…Penasaran.

Eniwei, buat yang pengen donlot, game-nya bisa dicari di piratebay, 2 Gigaan lah.

Buat yang gak bisa donlot…ya tunggu aja. Dealer game bajakan terdekat pasti dah nyetok. Kalo belum ya sabar aja dah dulu:P

How 2 Approach the DJ at the Club

One of the most irritating parts of being a DJ for me is artist approaching the booth telling me I NEED 2 play their music. Although I fully realize the need for an artist to get his music on the hands of a DJ factors such as time, place and proper etiquette must be considered in any presentation. The problem with most artist is the only interaction they have with DJs is while we’re working trying to keep 500 on the dance floor. Imagine this: Its 1AM and the club is packed, women everywhere dancing on each other. Bartenders are working super hard to satisfy the thirsty customers yelling for long island teas and apple martinis. The DJ is in a zone playing everything from Gucci to Beyonce and the crowd absolutely loves it. It seems to be a perfect night then up walks YOU! DRUNK AS HELL!! You hand me a CD that was written on with a sharpie and yell in my ear,”Ay mane you NEED 2 put this on! Me and my homeboy just finished mixing this junt tonight! This’ll really get this thang jumping!” Now, just to get you to leave me the hell alone I’ll probably tell you I’m going to check it out which is a blatant lie. Your unprofessional looking, un-cased CD will be sitting in the exact same spot when your drunk ass come back up here 15 minutes later to ask me what I think about it. Sorry but it’s the truth.

I didn’t go through the previous rant to discourage new artist but to do the exact opposite. There is a proper way to give music to a DJ while working. First you need to consider the presentation. If you bring me a CD with your name written on it in marker, I’m going to treat it like what it looks like, trash. With so many printing options available there’s no excuse for this. I know companies that will duplicate and print on your CDs for .50each with minimums and low as 100 pieces. If you live in most major cities there’s a good chance if you add up what you paid to get in the club and what you spent on drinks it would equal well over $50. If you don’t have $50 to invest in yourself, keep your day job. You aren’t built for the music industry.

Alright you got your CDs pressed up and you’re at the club. Now what? When I’m spinning I always get rappers that want to hold conversations with me and tell my how they’re the next Jeezy or the new Hov all while I’m at work controlling the dance floor. Please!! As a DJ, after I start playing any given song I have approx 1 and a half minutes to find another song and get it ready to play. As I stated before, I AM AT Work! Just because you’re off the clock from you job doesn’t mean I am. Keep in mind that the DJs job is to keep party goers at the club, on the floor dancing or at least nodding their heads all night long. We can generally pull this off without outside help especially from you. Bottom line, this club is going to jump without your song and it’s an insult to my craft to suggest otherwise. But it’s still alright to bring me your music. Jus make sure all your contact information is on the CD or stick a card inside of the case, ask me for a business card and keep it moving. With most DJ’s using computer software based setups, its not realistic to think that we will play your song tonight so drop of the CD and back off. Some DJs (especially in strip clubs) have a pay to play system where if you give him $20 or $50 he will play the song. This works differently with EVERY DJ so if you’re going to try the ‘bribe’ approach don’t be insulted or get mad if the DJ shoots you down. Not all DJs are in the position to do this and it’s not worth loosing their steady paying club gig for your $20.

After the club, follow up is key. Give the DJ a few days then email or text him(No, don’t call) to see if he’s had a chance to check out the music you submitted. By the way don’t feel insulted if he hasn’t listened to it yet. We’re very busy people and chances are a bunch of other people have given him CDs to listen to so don’t get mad if he doesn’t instantly remember who you are. Let him know you want his honest opinion on the songs potential. Remember we do this for a living so we know what people want to hear. And don’t get discouraged if he doesn’t like the music. We are also human and have our own individual taste. Good or bad, its just an opinion, not the end of the world. It’s important to keep improving and working the streets in your market. Most hit records, especially in the South, are built up from a strong street buzz throughout the artists’ city, so don’t get stuck going to 1 particular club or DJ every weekend just because they play your song. Every club is a potential avenue for greatness. The DJ is the artist best ally in the music industry since we are the ones that deliver your vision to the consumer, so respect our position and build bridges with us and you will have an upper hand on the competition in your quest for musical success.

Velvet Assassin

Originally published on the Square Go website on 1st June 2009 and published in the June issue of the physical magazine.—————————————————————————————————————————————————-

Games set during World War II tend to follow the same formula: a company of soldiers as they fight their way to victory against the Nazi threat. These men have access to devastating weapons, which are handy for cutting through the enemy hordes they’ll inevitably encounter. Throw in the occasional vehicular section and you have the perfect description of your average war game.

Which is why Velvet Assassin makes a refreshing change to all those games. You play the flashbacks of Violette Summer, a British spy tasked with highly dangerous and highly unofficial missions deep behind enemy lines, who currently lies comatose in a French hospital for reasons that are explained over the course of the story. Using a combination of stealth, shadows and cunning, it’s Violette’s job to carry out her objectives, ranging from sabotage to assassination.

The game itself is set up spectacularly, with an exceptionally moody menu screen showing her lying bleakly on a hospital bed, with monochrome tableaus depicting doctors agonising over whether to keep her alive or euthanise her to save her from the invading SS officers, and said officers’ murder attempt as she rests. The sombre mood is emphasised by the doleful music and visceral imagery included in the opening sequence, with hanging bodies, eye stabbings and burning corpses flashing by in quick succession in a beautiful, indulgent sepia.

The haunting visual styling and brutality carry on over to the gameplay. Being a spy, your only allies in this game are the shadows, which there are plenty of since light itself seems to be a luxury. And whilst hidden, Nazis won’t see Violette, but neither will you; things are so dark here, a visit to the video options menu might be in order.

If you can get used to this, you’ll realise soon enough that you need to be stealthy; absorb only a couple of rounds and you’re down for good. This wouldn’t be so bad if there was a decent checkpoint system in place, but they’re few and far between, usually filled with guard chatter that has to finish before you can move on. This leads to unnecessary waiting for a chance to progress, and epic frustration when you have to restart an age away from your point of death for the umpteenth time. This can occasionally be remedied using firearms and slo-mo Morphine injections, but  these items are scarce, so expect to endure numerous infuriating restarts over the course of the adventure.

The only viable path to steady progression is to take out enemies silently. Sneaking up on one with the knife equipped opens up the opportunity for a remorseless stealth kill, powerfully emphasised by rising chords and blood red filters permeating the screen before turning a brilliant rufescent rouge as you near the dispatch. The ability to peek through keyholes is another nice feature, but others don’t work so well. The vibration of the controller acting as a heartbeat when low on health is both cliché and annoying, and disguises are simply useless: get too close to an enemy while wearing one and your cover is blown. What’s the point?

Velvet Assassin is an intriguing idea largely carried off well. The presentation is superb, it’s refreshing to see individual Nazi opponents as significant individual threats, and the gameplay is exhilarating when it works. It’s no Metal Gear Solid or Splinter Cell, and its linearity and lack of story may put some off, but there’s a large amount of sneaky fun to be had with this title, especially for gamers new to the genre. However, they’ll just need a strong resolve and the patience of a saint to overcome its checkpoint problems.

Hypocrite

That other girl from radio club that i mentioned a few posts ago…her boyfriend dumped her. Before she told me that, we had been chatting on IM, and saying hi whenever we saw each other, then i mentined him, and she was like, “he dumped me”.

She’s from Germany, and has spent time in an international school, which has given her an American accent. Her eyes are real deep.

Last night the radio club played football against a team from a neighbouring uni’s radio team, so i went to that with her, and after, we went back to hers, and we chatted for a while, then went out to the clubs. We chatted about all sorts of stuff, like stuff that you wouldn’t usually talk to someone you hadn’t know for that long. Also, this other guy from radio was texting her, and she said that she didn’t like being hit on by him, so i asked her why she keeps giving him positive waves (they were flirting at radio club, and she was tickling the back of his leg), she didnt have an answer for that. Later, in the club, we danced quite a bit, we grinded quite a bit too, but when ever i looked her in the eye, she’d look away, so i knew she wasn’t interested in kissing me. That’s fair enough. Then that guy showed up, and she flirted with him a bit. Eventually she motioned to me that she wanted to go somewhere else away from him, so we went into a different room, but he followed, so she started dancing with him.

He went off somewhere evetually, and i was tired, so i said to her that im going, she followed me and said she was going as well. We got to the entrance, and she texted the guy, and he came, they spent like 10 minutes saying bye to each other, i got bored and left. Then i got a call off her asking me to come get chips with her. I met up with her, and told her not fuck me around like that. She didnt react.

Then we went home. This morning, i got a text off her, “Had a real good night, first one without tears and arguements for a while. Thank you. xx”

Fucking hell, women. I’m gonna refer to her as Hypocrite.

Final Fantasy Awesome

Well, I’ve played my new long-awaited game, Final Fantasy 13 and was pleasantly addicted. Unfortunately I can only play at my boyfriends house, preventing him from using his Ps3, but I’ve started saving for my own :D

I have no idea how they remotely related the battle system to FF10 as it is the polar opposite- You don’t even control any other character than the leader, like in FF12, but the battle is a lot like The Last Remnant, another Square Enix game. Also the Battle theme is catchy enough to have everyone in the house humming it.

I like the way all the characters story’s intertwine, and the stories themselves are just good enough to forgive Vanille and Fang’s voices.

Jirachi Event Wrap-up

Wel, Pokémon fans, as almost all of you probably already know, there was a free Nintendo Event at US Gamestop stores where players could bring their Nintendo DS systems and their Pokémon Diamond, Pearl, or Platinum cartridges to receive a free Jirachi using Mystery Gift in-game, which ended yesterday. When you transfer this Jirachi over to the new HeartGold and SoulSilver games, you will unlock a new route on the Pokéwalker called Sky Night’s Edge, which is the only way this route can be accessed. For more information on how Jirachi was distributed, click here.

So, some of you guys probably missed out on the event and are kind of bummed out, right? Well, cheer up, because if you have unlocked Mystery Gift in your game and you have a friend who has received the Jirachi, you can also receive it, after the distribution. Here’s what to do:

1. Make sure that you turn on the game cartridge that you want to receive Jirachi on.

• You must have unlocked Mystery Gift

• You must have the Pokédex

2. Select “Mystery Gift” in the main menu and the select “Get from Friend”

• Make sure your friend has the Wonder Card for the Jirachi

Please note: The above method only works for some things, so it may not work on Jirachi or other events. Another solution if you just want to unlock the route is to have your friend trade you Jirachi to unlock the route, and then you trade Jirachi back to them after unlocking it.

JIRACHI’S STATS

Level: 5

Moves: Wish, Draco Meter, Confusion, and Rest

Item Held: Liechi Berry

Ball Caught In: Cherish Ball

One thing’s for sure – this is one event that is something nobody wants to miss!

Just wanted to let you all know that two of the best maps from Call Of Duty 4 will be in the next map pack, Crash and Overgrown. This is some great news for all the players that loved these maps (me included). Funny thing is that I wished for these maps the same morning that the news came out. Wonderful!

Lets hope that PS3 get this update soon as well. :) Not a problem for me personally but they should really be aloud to get it pretty soon. :o

Sorority Life♥

Sorority Life gets better and better each time you complete a level. Leveling up requires earning Influence Points (IP’s). This article will give you several strategies on how to do that faster! I’m currently at level 43, but I play often and will be updating this article as needed.
Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
Things You’ll Need:

* A Facebook or MySpace account
* A Sorority Life account
* Some time!

1.
Step 1
Stage a Musical Production

Stage a Musical Production

I’m not much of a fighter (just not my style), so my favorite way to earn IP’s is to socialize! I am currently on level 43 and the most tempting of the events I can organize is the “Homecoming Formal,” which gives up 140 IP’s with each event. However, it also requires 74 energy points. That’s a hefty portion of my available energy! One of the most effective uses of your energy, as long as you have plenty of sisters, is the “Stage a Musical Production” event. Each time you organize the event, the amount of IP’s it pays increases. At 40% of the way to platinum (where I’m currently at because I only have 33 sisters), I can earn 32 IP’s for only 6 energy points.
2.
Step 2
Letters in the Sand Event

Letters in the Sand Event

However, my favorite way to earn IP’s is by organizing the “Letters in the Sand” event on Campus. It only uses 3 energy points and, if you earn at least 5,000 points on the game (which I do most of the time), you get 20 IP’s! If you played this 24 times, you would use 72 energy points (a little less than the “Homecoming Formal”) and could earn 480 IP’s!! The only downfall of this event is that it doesn’t matter how many times you play it, you never achieve a new level of expertise. In other words, you don’t go from bronze to silver to gold, etc. You usually earn money or brownie points for reaching a new level of expertise, so make sure to organize other events from time to time as well.
3.
Step 3
My Current Look

My Current Look

Fighting is the only other way to earn IP’s. I do use this option occasionally when I only need a small amount of IP’s to reach the next level and I don’t have any energy points available. One strategy I use (and I’m sure a lot of girls have plenty of other strategies, so see other articles on how to fight if you so desire) is to attack someone who has just attacked me and I won the fight. This usually means that I’m capable of winning the fight, so I know I’ll get IP’s from the attack. Another option is to go to the “fight” tab and choose someone with a small number of sisters. I feel bad doing this because I know that’s why I get attacked so often! But, a girl’s gotta do what a girl’s gotta do, right?

Final Fantasy XIII

Since Final Fantasy first premiered on the Nintendo consoles, I figured I would review the new game

“FFXIII is best JRPG released in at least 5 years.”

As the tagline states, I believe this game easily surpasses any other JRPG of this generation. It manages to do something engrossing and unique while avoiding many of the pitfalls that nearly other JRPG of this generation has fallen into. I’ll try to give a brief idea of what you should expect if you pick this up and discuss the wedge points which will make you love or hate this game in particular.

Graphics: 9/10
Square is known for making incredibly beautiful, stable graphics with rich art design, and FFXII is no deviation from that tradition. This game offers a variety of colorful environments and truly amazing FMV sequences that are top notch. You find a more technically impressive RPG experience no matter how hard you look.

However, it’s best to keep in mind that the game does run at a higher resolution on the PS3. It is noticeable if you have a large HDTV, so if you have the option and the proper setup, I’d suggest snagging a PS3 to have a graphically superior experience.

Sound: 9/10
I’d heard some reviewers claim that the musical score isn’t as impressive as in previous entries, and I couldn’t agree less. I find the battle music especially impressive, and the sound effects aren’t bad either. The voice acting is excellently done for most characters, but Vanille’s voice does great a tad. I can’t say Snow’s performance is perfect all of the time either.

Battle System: 10/10
One thing that I think a lot of reviewers failed to mention is that the positioning of your opponents is relevant in the same way that it was in Chrono Trigger. This isn’t just an ATB battle system souped up so that the action is more real time; you have to take into account the position of your enemies in order to judge your area-of-effect combat moves and utilize your ATB gauge to the fullest. You only control the main character directly, but you give general roles to each party member, and I can’t imagine how insane it would be if you tried to control more than one at a time (one is often challenging enough).

Some reviewers also suggested that using the auto-battle command is the best way to go about it, but in doing that you’re missing out on so much effectiveness. The ability to execute commands early, take enemy positioning into account, and develop more in-depth strategies is entirely lost if you focus on the auto-battle command. After the game opens up a bit once unlock paradigm shifts, the battles are fast-paced, beautiful, and incredibly challenging.

The paradigm system allows for on the fly job-switching so that you can dynamically adapt your strategies and give your AI partners a general role to fulfill (though it also changes the party leader which you are controlling). This paves the way for deep, challenging fights where strategy is king.

Gone are random encounters, replaced by a familiar system where you try and get initiative in battle by engaging your enemy before being sighted. There’s items called shrouds which help you obtain the advantage on the field, similar to the way that some games allow you to set traps. These features aren’t new, but they’re well-done for FFXIII.

Upgrading/Customization: 8.5/10
The bad news is that there’s only two slots for you to equip your characters, weapons and bangles. The good news is there’s a fair degree of involvement in those particular slots, including leveling up your weapons and refining them by various means. Compared to FFX and FFVIII however, the game’s equipment system is handled amazingly; in both of those installments things were vastly oversimplified and revolved entirely around upgrading via component collection.

As far as progressing the characters themselves go, the new system is like the Sphere Grid with a little bit of the license board thrown in. You unlock stat upgrades, abilities, and auto-abilities (think passive traits) by spending points earned in battles to try between nodes. Each character has a different path to traverse for upgrades for each of their paradigm roles (think jobs), where abilities learned can only be used by that paradigm but stats affect the character in all roles. It’s an amazing system which gives you a great degree of freedom and choice in character progression.

Story: 9/10
It isn’t Shakespeare, but it’s a vast improvement on the storyline offered by the previous installment. Where FFXII focused largely on an over-arching plot, FFXIII is focused on a more personal level, though the personal struggles of the characters do eventually become part of a larger saga.

This is one area where FFXIII finally breaks the precedence of cheesy, uninspired dialogue with plenty of philosophical, unbelievably trite lines set by JRPGs of this generation. There are a few times where you’ll be wincing at the stupid things characters say and do, but the game often recognizes that and realizes that the characters in question are behaving foolishly (and will often punish them for it).

Sazh and Lightning are the most sober, realistic, and mature characters to breach the genre in a long time. They serve as a perfect counter-balance to the cliches of Snow and Vanille, and keep the plot grounded in believability and decent writing where Infinite Undiscovery, Star Ocean IV, and other JRPGs of this generation fell off the cliff of shoddy-dialogue and into the abyss of storyline apathy.

Exploration/Freedom/Pacing: 6.5/10
I’ve heard people claim that this game is nothing more than running from one battle or cutscene to the other, that’s really not the case, but they have distilled out a lot of traditional features that fans truly enjoyed.

Sidequests don’t open up until much later in the game, though there are a lot of them. There’s not a lot of backtracking, but this could be considered both good and bad. Towns are no longer places to relax, they still serve a purpose in the storyline and are impressive, but shopping is done from save points.

It isn’t until later in the story when exploration elements even begin to crop up, because you travel through packed corridors for the first disc or two of the game. The same can be said of the game’s progression system: for the first 1-2 hours you haven’t even unlocked the ability to have your characters progress. It takes awhile for all of the features to open up to you, this is undeniably the biggest problem with the game.

Final Score: 9/10
This really is the best JRPG to come out in forever, but I cannot emphasize enough that it’s very Japanese. Western RPGs focus on open world exploration, non-linearity, and freedom of choice. But where Final Fantasy XIII shines, is in the creation of a character-centric completely linear plot, a challenging combat experience, and graphical immersion.

Much like FFX, FFXIII creates the feeling that you’re coming along for the journey with a team of six individuals with an extraordinary fate. In some ways you’re just a spectator along for the ride, but if the trip is worth taking (and it is), sometimes you don’t mind stepping back and taking in the grandeur around you.

Fuel, a game review

Random for this blog, I realize, but I think I need to expand my content a bit.

Fuel, the game; I thought, was brilliant.

Everyone trashed it because of shallow gameplay and although it has the Guinness World Record for largest game world, it’s largely empty. These are both true, it’s hard to deny. The world goes forever in every direction, it would take days to drive in a straight line across the map. There are hills and mountains, lakes, streams, forests, deserts and everything in between. Perhaps it’s my exploring nature, but I really like driving around and finding the barrels of fuel (game currency) hidden behind trees.

I would suggest that the people who review the game found it boring because they are expecting so much to pop out and wow them, but this game is a very subtle beast. It’s fantastically relaxing to drive around and forget about fast paced objectives found in most games. I prefer this, really.

It’s beautiful. Running on the DiRT engine, as far as I know, it comes across so crisp and dirty, perfectly portraying that post apocalyptic grunge. I do wish I could control time (the day/night cycle) more akin to Burnout Paradise’s time of day menu; pausing the sun at that burning red dawn that shines through the forest.

I bought it for xbox 360 for $62, and sold it for $20. The market dropped once everybody realized they didn’t like it. When I bought it again for PC, it was a mere $12, making an easy purchase for hours of gameplay and literally weeks of free roam exploring.

So, I liked it, despite what everyone else says. And for that price, how can you resist?

Mixtape Preview

For years, I always wondered, what is wrong with me sometimes? Not anything crazy like that or something, but why does certain things happen (and not happen) to me? I always leave myself wondering why things do not usually work out the way I want them to, but I usually  always try to remain positive about it, and try to be as least bit negative as possible (which is extremely hard sometimes).

For example, there is this girl I talked to since winter session, and though I didn’t like her at first in a romantic way, but now I started growing some feelings for her. I didn’t want to mess up again like other times with girls, but I still think in the back of my mind, I wont get her (thats negative me talking again). Maybe she will just lie and say that she has a boyfriend, or use that “friend” word. Lets face it— that would kill the whole relationship completely, and you won’t suddenly stop liking her and compromise on just being friends.

My main point is that no matter what I do, no matter how much I change myself in any way, shape, or form, I always end up back to where I started, as that nappy headed black kid who raps and writes music and makes iphone games. Then I scratched my head pulling on one of my curls( I recently texturized my hair), and it still feels nappy as hell. Then I thought, you know what… this is me. I can’t change myself, no matter how much Itry, nor do I want to. at the end of the day, its just me. I shouldn’t have to prove my worth to people who are not worth proving it to. They cant change me, and if they don’t agree with me, they can leave. I can care less at this point. I have to much going on in my life to worry about them. I have that feeling inside me that is saying that something good is going to happen to me very soon, and i have to do everything I can and not quit on myself.

With all that being said, I present you all with…

My latest project. This will be all me. My life, my achievements, my mistakes, my failures, my dreams, and everything that is in my life and mind. No one can tell me what I can and can’t do, not even me! I might say that I do not want something, but if I know inside myself that I want it, I have a good chance of getting it. This is the new K.T.F I was talking about, well actually the old, but with a better and richer mindset on life.

The first song for this is already done, but I will keep that under wraps until later. Welcome back Nels, this is our year!

Let’s Play Everquest II: Skulls and Cadavers 3

When we last left our hero…

When we last left Amuntoth the Evil Necromancer he had just left the starting town, bound for the wide world. Also he plans to own it all.

FirstCamp

“Ahh, some of my subjects. It looks like they’ve made camp out in my wilderness. I’ll just have to see if they have any food, as I seem to have not bought any when I got to the surface.”

ChickforBones

“Hello servant. I am in need of food, and if you offer me cheese I shall summon your skeleton from your body as I did with my friend Squee here.”

Ginwyss: “Let me guess, you left out on your own to become an adventurer and you forgot to buy any supplies?”

“That may be similar to what happened, do you have any food?”

Ginwyss: “Yes, I  have some. I also happen to have a problem with the undead around here, and judging by your dusty friend there you might be able to do something about it.”

“And you haven’t done anything about it yourself because…?”

Ginwyss: “Well, I COULD leave here and go tearing off after all the zombies and skeletons around here, but then I would return to the chewed out husks of my former comrades, men and women who are going to pay me a VERY large sum of money when we return to Neriak.”

“And you want me to go stop these Skeletons for some food? Perhaps you could share a little of that wealth…”

Ginwyss: “Well….I do have a robe here you might like. It DID belong to one of my crew members, but he ran off in the middle of the night. We only found the robe. As long as you don’t mind a little blood…”

“I’ll be right back once I’ve gotten rid of a few skeletons!”

ChainSkeletons

You would be surprised the things this rat will do for new clothes.

These skeletons aren’t going to be vanquished just by destroying their bodies, so I use a new spell I’ve been working on to chain their soul and rip it our of their bodies. I have been working on a lot of spells to rip things out of peoples bodies. I may have an issue.

CaptureSoul1

After capturing a few souls in an enchanted vial, I just need a few of their bones to complete the ritual.

Bones

I head back to camp and explain what I’ve done to Ginwyss. I’ve still got the final piece of the ritual to do, back at the Well of Torment, a pool of abyss I passed on my way here from Town Loser. We are interrupted by another member of Ginwyss’ crew, Laexyra.

MainChick

It turns out she’s the head of the camp here, and before I head out to damn these spirits to eternal torment she would like me to stop by and see a specific ghost she knows. Apparently he was the former occupant of my future robe, and he thought he could stop the undead threat by himself. She would like me to remind him how badly that failed, and she wants me to do it since I appear to actually be solving the problem. She also offered me some gloves and a few silver. And it is cold out here at night.

Ghost1

This is him, Harnen Taptha. He’s a decent sort of ghost, one of the more charming that I have met. For the ghost of a surfacer anyway. We have a very polite conversation about his massive failure.

Ghost2

His completely irrational and unprovoked attack net’s him one of my most powerful spells. I think about binding his soul with the rest of them, but I figure that I might want to summon him some time, just to laugh at how pathetic he was.

After that it’s off to the Well of Torment, where I release the spirits. Release them right into eternal pain and suffering.

CaptureSoul2

Norrath’s Catch and Release program is born.

A quick jog back to the camp and it’s time to get some food. I could eat a horse.

Mounted

Or whatever that is. I order my subject to get off of his mount and allow me to eat it, but he just gives me a dirty look and rides away. He is lucky that I have no mount of my own as yet…

ChickforBones2

“Your dirty work is done, the undead shouldn’t be a problem for you anymore. Thanks for the robe, it fits real nice.”

Ginwyss: “You more than earned it traveler, I hope it brings you better luck than it’s former occupant.”

“Of course it will, I am your king after all, and I do look rather kingly in my new robe.”

Ginwyss: “You are a strange little Ratonga…”

She’s got it BAD for me. You can’t help it when I look THIS awesome though.

NewOutfit1

This is a horrendous robe. So far it’s gone from bad to worse. Between the terrible robes and the fact that I haven’t seen the sun yet, this place is terribly depressing. I guess I should have expected it, being that I am evil and in a place called Darklight Wood.

That’s it for this Let’s Play. There will be more next time as I finish up this camp and move on to the next one.

The game of life revisited - Day 23/139

In my earlier post “It’s just a game” I briefly touched the idea of life being a game.

Game development guru and professor Jesse Schell takes the idea even further. He presents a set of rules how the game could work. His whole presentation in DICE 2010 is available here:

DICE 2010: “Design Outside the Box” Presentation

It takes almost 30 minutes but I bet it’s worth every minute of it. In Schell’s game everything we do in the real life becomes a part of game system where everyone and everything is scored. He sees this as the inevitable future and ends his show by asking:

Who in this room will lead us to get there?

In my opinion, it’s not the question of getting there. We already are there. The question is how do we get out?

Our real world is a game where the money is the score. And you’re already playing the game whether you wanted or not.

The only universal end result seems to be that the game sucks with this scoring system. Just ask anyone who ever made it to the high score list.

Game Copy Monster - How To Copy Xbox360 Games

Ever heard of Game Copy Monster? Want to copy Xbox 360 games? Which among the many game copying software will you ever try? The Xbox 360 game console is a favorite amongst many people all over the world and that may be the main reason for the sky rocketing prices of the original disks of the Xbox 360 games. It is one of the biggest disadvantage of using this amazing gaming console is that the disks on which some of the most fantastic Xbox 360 games are present come at a fairly high price and that’s why many people resist from playing these games forever.

I am sure that almost all users of the Xbox 360 have at least tried to copy the games, and backup copies of them but of course, not everyone has to make success with it. The reason why you're not in a position to copy Xbox 360 games is that these games come with a floppy disk copy protection on them that each device off to read the game and make their copies. There is a special security code that is encoded in different parts of the original CDs, and that's the main code that can not be broken and thus the disks can not be copied. Although there is now a solution for this situation is very sticky.
There are a number of game copy software’s that are easily available these days. These game copy software’s have an amazing ability to copy your Xbox 360 games in a matter of minutes. There is a? wide choice available for you on the internet all you have to do is choose the software that you find most appealing to you ,although I must warn you that some of theses software’s may project features that are too good to be true and are just gimmicks and hence they should be avoided at all cost ,also you will come across some free software’s ,I suggest that you should keep away from them because they may load your computer with some very deadly viruses that and leave your computer irreparable.
But if you go to a more reliable brand, it would not encounter any problems. When you install the game on the computer copy of the software you will see that it gives you a step by step what you have to do to make the original copies of Xbox 360 games guide. Once you have successfully saved on your computer, you can burn as many copies of the original game you want.
So now to get one of these amazing game copy software and burn unlimited copies of their favorite games of Xbox 360. I would recommend you to try, Game Copy monster! It will give you the safest way to copy any Xbox 360 games you want! Take Monster Game Copy here!

Torchlight PC Game - MMORPG

Storyline – Word of Ember blazed across the land, and the town of Torchlight flared to life.

Ember is the essence of magic and the keystone of alchemy; it lures the restless with promises of power and riches. Miners burrowed deep beneath the dirt streets of Torchlight, discovering veins of the ore richer than any found in living memory- but they were not the first to covet these mines. The miners from Torchlight broke through into the buried past, a dangerous labyrinth of caverns and ruined civilizations, twisted creatures and the bones of those who came before. Evil bubbles up from the depths and threatens to overrun Torchlight as it has so many others. The heart of a villain has infused the Ember, and his darkness seeps through the veins.

To survive, the townspeople of Torchlight must break the cycle of destruction; they need a champion who can destroy the evil at its root. Removing the source of the rot may purify the Ember, but it is a long and perilous journey. The champion must battle through rock and fire, through lost cities and ancient tombs, into the palace of the villain himself.

Watercooler Bowls Club

As Laura Cantrell would put it “well, there you have it folks”.  Why join a lawn bowls club when you don’t need to even leave the office to play bowls?  Using an orange hard hat instead of a ball was an inspired choice from Vicky.  It flew, rather than rolled into position, but for an impromptu game, worked a treat.

Highly recommended for rainy afternoons.  If you give it a try, do let me know.  Ms. Mischief x

Layer Tennis - Match 2

It’s on again, Layer Tennis which I blogged about here, for those who don’t know, is a match of design played back and forth between two computers and two designers each adding a new layer until the game is over and a winner is declared.

Peter Bruhn vs. Mark Simonson.

This match is a battle of type, font rules all here.

Now, I’m no typographer and I don’t really have a huge interest in it but it’s really interesting to see the tiny details that go into making typography, I knew there was work involved but never as much as this. In the picture below you can see the meticulous detail that goes in to creating each letter, from the angle of lines to the placement of serifs.

I have to say I think I’m more of a fan of Peter Bruhn’s work, than Simonson’s although that maybe to do more with the pictures that he’s coupled his type with, I’m not sure.

Either way I’ve voting for Bruhn.

The next match is scheduled for next Friday.
